Final Fantasy XI sequel to showcase at E3 2009?

According to the January 2009 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (as generously scanned in by FFXI Gil game spot forumites), Square-Enix will be showing off the sequel to long-lived MMORPG FFXI Gil game at next year's E3.

The new FFXI Gil game - code-named "Rapture" in some circles - is "designed to coexist with (i.enot replace)" its predecessorFFXI Gil game Producer Hiromichi Tanaka told EGM that the "next-generation MMO that we're working on is going to be different than FFXI Gil gameAnd even though we have the same staff working on the project, we're not going to make something that'll be exactly like FFXI Gil game."

Back in 2006, IGN reported that "Rapture" was in development for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PCLittle else is known of the FFXI Gil game, including how exactly (or if at all) it relates to other Final Fantasy universes.
